Our History The roots of Mid-East Foods started in 1971, with David and Abla Njaim, new immigrants to Canada, opening their first specialty store. While most of their business at that time focused on serving the neighborhood, the Njaim’s felt that it was important to stock specialty products used by new immigrants in preparing their daily meals. Over the years, as the Middle-Eastern community grew, so did their selection of specialty goods. In 1987, the Njaim’s son Elias saw the need to offer an expanded service to the community, and teamed with sister Margo to realize this goal. Over twenty-five years later, the Njaim’s have taken the original idea and have developed it into today’s Mid-East Foods. Proudly offering 9000 square feet of retail space, 8000 square feet warehouse space, 4000 square feet kitchen space, over 3,000 products, and employing over 40 people – Mid-East Foods still strives to make our customers feel like part of the family.
